BEEF – MARKET…

DEPARTMENT 300 - DIVISIONS 500 - 509 

 

ENTRIES:

  • Entry Forms & Fees Due:   Saturday, April 7th by 5:00 p.m.

  • Stall Fees: $8.00 per Head

  • Show Limit: 2 Animals per Division

RULES:

  • Refer to State and Local Rules, which apply to these divisions.

  • Weight requirement is 1050 lbs. to No Maximum.  Maximum weight payout for Auction is 1350 lbs.

  • Must be owned and managed 150 days. Proof of Ownership, Bill of Sale required

  • Market Beef are considered to be a Steer or Heifer

  • All Cattle must have yellow haul slips available during weigh in for the brand inspector. (Even if yellow slip was used as proof of ownership at time of entry)

  • Danish System of Judging

  • All animals that do not make weight will automatically be entered in a feeder class.

  • Open to all Calaveras County Junior Exhibitors who are exhibiting market animals.  Dam must have been owned by a Calaveras County resident and was maintained in Calaveras County.  Definition of Breeder - Owner of the dam at conception and/or owner of the egg donor for ovum/embryo transfer.  Animal must be sale eligible.

DIVISION 503 – Bred, Fed and Calved by Exhibitor

Open to all Calaveras County Junior Exhibitors who are exhibiting market animals owned and maintained by an Exhibitor.  Definition of Breeder - Owner of the dam at conception and/or owner of the egg donor for ovum/embryo transfer.  Animal must be born and raised in Calaveras County. Animal must be sale eligible.

SWINE – MARKET

RULES:

  • Refer to State and Local Rules, which apply to these divisions.

  • Weight requirement is 215 lbs. to **280** lbs.  Maximum weight payout for Auction is 270 lbs. (Over weight hogs will be disqualified).

  • Must be owned and managed 60 days.  Proof of Ownership, Bill of Sale required

  • Danish System of Judging

  • All animals that do not make weight will automatically be entered in a feeder class.

  • All Market Swine MUST have 5/8’’ hair or longer. Failure to comply will result in animal becoming non-sale eligible.  Hair is checked at official weigh-in and subject to inspection at any  time.

DIVISION 510 – Market Swine

  • All market sheep must show lambs teeth

  • All market sheep must have been slick shorn from the knee and hock up

  • All market sheep should not exceed ¼” in fleece length and must be uniform over entire body

  • Sheep with excessive wool will not be weighed until shorn to meet satisfaction of Fair Officials.

  • All animals that do not make weight will automatically be entered into a Feeder Class.

 

DIVISION 520 – Market Sheep

  • All market goats must be slick sheared or 3/8” hair only

  • All market goats must show milk teeth

  • All market goats must have scrapie identification

  • All market goats may be shown in halter or collar

  • Either horned, tipped or de-horned animals are permissible.

  • No holding of front feet off of ground

  • All animals that do not make weight will automatically be entered into a feeder class.

MEAT CHICKENS – MARKET….

DEPARTMENT 304 - DIVISIONS 540 - 549 

ALL POULTRY MUST BE INSPECTED BEFORE ENTERING THE GROUNDS

 

ENTRIES:

  • Stall Fee $4.00 per Unit

  • Show Limit: 2 of the same market unit (4 market units max)

  • Entries Arrival & Judged: See Livestock Schedule

  • Entries Released Non Sale Animals – All Poultry Meat Pens or Broilers not declared to sell in the auction, shall be excused at conclusion of the show and must be removed from the Fairgrounds by 4:00 p.m. Wednesday May 17th. – Sunday, May 20th @ 4 p.m.

  • Must have signed Livestock Release Slip

 

RULES:

  • Meat Pen is 2 birds not over 8 weeks of age weighing 3.5 lbs. to 6.5 lbs. each.

  • Single Broiler is 1 bird not over 10 weeks of age weighing 6.5 lbs. to 12 lbs.

  • Must be owned and managed for 39 days.  Bill of Sale required

  • Any bird showing evidence of disease will be immediately removed from the Fairgrounds. No Washing.

  • American System of Judging

 

DIVISION 540 – Meat Pen (Pen of 2)

  • Show Limit: 2 of the same market Unit (4 market unit max)

  • Sale Animals & Tack – Sunday, May 20th @ 4:00 p.m.

  • Must have signed Livestock Release Slip

  • Meat Pen is 3 rabbits weighing 3.5 lbs. to 5.5 lbs. each.

  • Single Fryer is 1 rabbit weighing 3.5 lbs. to 5.5 lbs.

  • Any rabbits showing evidence of disease will be immediately removed from the Fairgrounds.

  • Must be in the owner’s procession and care for 60 days. Proof of Ownership, Bill of Sale required

  • Must have permanent tattoos in rabbits left ear on arrival at weigh-ins.  (Tattoos Numbers issued by Fair Management). No Washing.

  • Danish System of Judging

  • This is not an ARBA sanctioned show.

 

DIVISION 560 – Meat Pen (Pen of 3)
